We planned 4 nights, 5 days in Jamaica to celebrate my husband’s 40th Birthday! I chose Sandals Montego Bay because of it’s proximity to the airport, maximizing our time on resort and the social atmosphere it has. Here’s a recap of what we loved about our trip.
We flew United from Chicago O’Hare direct to Montego Bay International Airport in Jamaica. Once we started flying over the water, I took over in the window seat. I had the flight status map up (which is my favorite show) and had my eyes on the water. Above is a picture of us starting to go over Cuba. All of Cuba had cloud cover that day so I could only get pictures of the water.
We arrived at Sandals Montego Bay to be greeted in the Club Sandals lounge which is a nice upscale touch to our trip. Our Club Level room was located in the Oceanfront Building, our exact room number was 301. I strongly suggest the 3rd floor rooms for the amazing views.
We arrived early and explored the resort and came back at sunset to catch this killer site right from our balcony.
The next day we set sail on the Island Routes Reggae Catamaran Cruise that took us directly from the dock on resort out snorkeling and then to Margaritaville Montego Bay. I love Sailboats so watching the sail get raised was a highlight.
We had such a great time listening to Reggae music and cruising the Caribbean.
The team on board was great about safety and made sure everyone was really comfortable.
This is the water from outside of Margaritaville Montego Bay at the dock. We went in for a drink and you can see all the way down the Irie Hip Strip from the third floor of Margaritaville.
When we got back to Sandals Montego Bay we stumbled over to eat some jerk chicken at the Jerk Shack on resort. We past this beautiful wedding on the way. They had a semi-private reception in the French restaurant afterwards. It looked like a lot of fun.
I was waiting for the Escargots de Bourgogne since we planned the trip. They are garlicly goodness and can be found at almost all of the Sandals Resorts. Put it on your must eat list.
Well, this girl is an absolute STAR. We loved watching her and I wish I was a producer to discover her and make her famous. I can’t say enough about the amazing entertainment at every turn at this resort.
Even though the other mornings we opted for a buffet breakfast for a quick and easy fix, this day we went to the Cucina Romana for an oceanfront ala carte breakfast. The Lox and Bagel did not disappoint.
After breakfast we headed over to Sandals Royal Caribbean. Stay at 1 resort and play at 3 is a treat. We were able to tour the resort, take a dip in the swim up bar pool and then take the boat out to the private island. The private island is home to the Over the Water Bungalows, it’s own pool and swim up bar, the Jerk Shack and a private beach and swimming area. It was amazing! I’m so glad that we took the trip over to this resort. Granted it was only a quick 8 minute shuttle ride, I’m glad we didn’t pass it up.
The water was incredible. It was crystal clear, warm and sparkling. The sand is soft and overall I was in heaven.
We ate at the Mariners Seaside Grill for lunch and shared the jerk chicken quesadilla and a beef jamaican patty with their special hot sauce. It was spicy though nothing a red stripe couldn’t cure.
When we got back to Sandals Montego Bay we sat and watched the live Reggae band on the beach. This is my favorite part of Jamaica, the music.
We found these birds while walking around. I seriously don’t think they liked to be caged but they sure were beautiful!
That night we dined around which is strongly encouraged. Take your time and stop at a couple restaurants for different courses. We started at Soy the new Sushi restaurant on property. Fresh made sushi and some of the best all-inclusive sushi we have had.
Walking to dinner we were able to find the perfect picture location in front of this tropical wall of trees and bushes by the main pool. I highly suggest a photo opportunity!
Finally our last dinner on resort at Cucina Romana. Florentine alla Griglia, Rib eye steak, herb, oil aromtoic, salt, baked potato and grilled vegetables. Gnocchi al Gorgonzala e Noci, homemade potato gnocchi, blue cheese and walnut. YUM!
Overall we loved our stay at Sandals Montego Bay. This was my 5th trip to Jamaica and I was named a J-American which I appreciated. I look forward to my next stay on this beautiful island. The people are so kind and friendly. Quality food and amazing music make for the perfect trip!
